ELECTROSTATIC WATER TREATMENT:
The use of an electrostatic device designed to
prevent waterside problems including scaling, deposition and microbiological
fouling; it is to be retrofitted into any aqueous recirculating heat transfer
system where there is continuous non-turbulent flow. It can be applied with or
without chemicals, wholly or in part, to meet the desired objectives.
The water treatment programs must coincide with
the criteria and recommendations outlined by the supplier of the electrostatic
product. Performance necessitates routine system maintenance and management.
- Furnish and install a factory assembled
electrostatic water treatment product that measures a length of
approximately 54cm. (21½ inches) or 42cm. (16½ inches) at the probe end.
The probe is to have an approximate diameter of 2.8cm. (1.1 inches) with a
40 MIL Teflon covering that is dialectically sealed between a metal cap and
a metal 3.8cm. (1½ inch) NPT threaded male connection.
- Unit to include a self-monitoring power pack
in a NEMA 12 general purpose plastic enclosure; a solid state transformer
with an adjustable screw potentiometer to provide a V.D.C. output of ~ 8900
across the high tension and ground terminals.
- Approximately nine feet of flexible
water-tight conduit must house the wiring between the probe section and the
power pack. Metal and water resistant connections are to be applied at both
ends of the conduit.
- The power source to the power pack is to be
specified at either 115 V.A.C./60 Hz single phase or 230 V.A.C./50 Hz single
phase. Fuse protection and pilot light indicator are necessary features. No
more than 10 watts of power is to be consumed with this product.
- The electrostatic treatment product must be
CSA approved and/or UL listed to ensure safety standards.
- A minimum one year warranty against material
workmanship is recommended.
- The product should be available in at least
two different materials of construction; a brass model for general and
routine applications and a 316 stainless steel model suitable for specified
conditions or situations.
